Having a personal website reminds me of the poem “Ozymandias” by Percy Bysshe Shelley:
“…on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
Ozymandias built a grand statue to stand for all time as a tribute to himself; my vanity project is built in the ether, comprised of naught but zeroes and ones, with only the appearance of being something tangible.
But I don’t have the same motivation as old Ozy. Where he sought to dominate, I seek to inspire and so, although it’s more than a little embarrassing to have my own website, I offer these pages to you, the viewing public. Look on my works—and think!
